Quite right (except I skipped the academic bit too). Merchant seaman, electronics solderer, factory worker, painter & decorator, delivery driver, kitchen hand, retail manager, record label manager, artist agent, event promoter, copywriter, dole bludger, traveller, researcher. All as essential as if I'd done as many completely different things.

i think a variety of experience is not just essential to being a good planner, but to being a good anything. to being a human being! nothing like a well rounded set of experiences to give you something almost tactile to draw on. imagination, empathy and experience, what a nice little combination.

Yep, you're right. Life teaches stuff nothing else will.
