I love this. It makes me feel warm as a Dad. It reminds me of those days as a little boy, endlessly roleplaying the Star Wars films with the toys and figures, my little mates, making up our own plots, arguing over who got to be Han Solo etc.
Reminds me that sometimes, the brief can just be, "Can we just have some great work please? Just try and make the little things thoughtful Dad's do to make their kids happy fun and exciting - you might want to tap into their fond memories of childhood and the role their Dad's in this' - but it's up to you".
It's a lovely ad ... an ad that makes you feel good and nice.
Whether it would be memorable as a VW ad is open to debate, but I bet if you were a little kid who saw it, you'd remember and sometimes that is an influence group we forget about when talking about categories beyond toys or supermarket produce.
Brilliant casting and wonderfully shot - which makes me sound a huge wanker, but it does make a massive difference to the overall effect.

Except why some clients only seem to appreciate the need to be entertaining at major televised events. And none of this "but VW have always been like that" ... they haven't, especially in the last 10 years, especially stateside. (CP+B aside)
